Wins in Wind

In 2022, the Port worked with terminal operator DRM, Ventower Industries, Capital City Crane group, and Michigan-based transportation company Ashton Marine to move wind tower section manufactured by Ventower at Monroe to Oswego, New York where they were staged for a larger renewable energy project.

Steel & Spirit

The bond between steel & spirit continues to be on full display as the Port works with McKeil Marine to efficiently handle cargoes of coiled steel produced in Canada for distribution to regional manufacturers.

Logistics Perfection

In 2019, the Port brought in a generator stator for the Fermi II nuclear plant north of the Port onboard the specialized heavy-lift vessel Happy Ranger. The cargo was safely offloaded at the Port’s turning basin dock onto a specialized rail car. The ship then shifted to the Port’s riverfront dock and loaded a full cargo of wind tower sections manufactured in Monroe by Ventower Industries for an overseas destination. To be able to unload and load a specialized heavy-lift vessel at the same port was the pinnacle of “logistics perfection.”
