The Port of Monroe is proud to present “Heritage Days” a one-of-a-kind event celebrating the Port’s rich history of transportation. The Port represents the largest concentration of intermodal assets anywhere in southeast Michigan and will utilize those connections to bring together an iconic lineup of historic transportation pieces through land, water, and air.
What’s happening…
The tugboat Georgia is stationed at the Port of Monroe and provides ship assistance and icebreaking services to vessels calling on the Port’s facilities. This tug, built in 1897, is the oldest operating tugboat in the entire world and will be available for viewing at the Port’s turning basin dock.
Joining the Georgia at the Port will be…
The steam locomotive Pere Marquette 1225, operated by the Steam Railroad Institute of Owosso, MI is scheduled to make an appearance.
The Yankee Air Museum out of Willow Run Airport will be flying their B-25 bomber over the port.
The Commemorative Air Force’s Rise Above Squadron will be performing an aerial display with their P-51C Mustang.
The Lake Erie Warbirds will display their operating WWII-era TBM Avenger.
The iconic Theodore TOO tugboat.
